Yep, after years of trying we’ve finally made it happen. We are approved for our mortgage (an FHA) and are waiting for underwriting and an appraisal now! Remember that home we move in to back in March that we signed a lease purchase agreement on?

It is pretty much ours!

After some hard-core credit clean up and some very frugal living we are making our home buying dream happen. We’ll be closing by the end of the month (on our un-wedding anniversary) and will have already paid about $10,000 towards the home purchase price by the time we close. We also opted to buy down some points on the mortgage so the 5.35% rate is now down to like 4.37%.

We are so darn happy that all the hard work and “playing by the rules” has paid off. We’ll even be taking advantage of the $8000 first time home buyers incentive since we are closing before the end of the year. The best part is we are doing it all while still living within our means.

Sure we’ve got an old beater car, an ancient washer and dryer and we hardly have any extra spending money but the budgeting and scrimping has totally paid off! We are very pleased with ourselves! Our hard work, planning and patience has finally been rewarded. Yay.
