I know I totally spaced telling you about the weekend. I’ve been busy doing all sorts of stuff like trying to get Miss Every to consume some food.

She’s going through a get-that-spoon-away-from-me-I-can-do-it-myself phase which is fine because she’s great at the finger foods like banana, strawberry or mac and cheese. Problem is I’d like her to eat more than sugar, pasta and powdered cheese. She’s a picky eater these days.

This prompted me to set out making homemade ravioli with garden fresh spinach and jarred baby food (that we have an abundance of and she now refuses to be fed). Ravioli making pretty much took up all of Tuesday, it is quite the process:

Toward the end of ravioli making E pulled the very heavy pasta plate off the counter and it fell on my foot. She wont eat the ravioli either. Bruised foot and bruised ego…

Wednesday I was all gimpy and it was an overcast day so E and I got to hang in the garden, weeding, planting and watering things. The damn Japanese beetles are annihilating my poor rose bushes again and I am constantly clipping off dead portions, luckily new growth always follows. It would be nice to eliminate the munching pests though.

Thursday N went in for his first ever chiropractor visit following over a week of pinched nerve (possible slipped disk) symptoms. We tagged along for the visit and then got some change from the bank for the yard sale coming up. I am still pricing stuff like mad and E used her new squishy potty seat like a big girl today.

And now the good stuff:

The theme park was lots of fun over the weekend! Everly rode lots of kiddie rides, some were with us…

Some were on her own. She was a champ for the solo boat ride, it was sure a unnerving feeling sending you kid off on a solo ride though. I was wringing my hands and all tense hoping she wouldn’t stand up or try getting out of the boat.

After the success of the boat ride we were encouraged to let her ride the fishy ride by the ride attendant. We learned a lesson with this ride: Always watch it to assess the speed and velocity of it before you send your kid off to partake.

Everly was good on the fishy ride but she was hesitant and uncertain. See it in her eyes?

They the ride took off and she instinctively held on for dear life. It was wayyyyy to fast for our liking but E wasn’t freaking out. She was letting out a shriek here and there and as the ride slowed down she lost it. Here is the ride operator rescuing her and seeming kind of amused by the ordeal.

All the parents of other kids riding the ride were giving us what-were-you-thinking looks… Once we had her back in our arms we began consoling her and had to take a break under a tree for some breastfeeding comfort and some cuddles.

All in all it’s been a busy and eventful week. This weekend should be crazy with the yard sale. Here is to hoping all the stuff gets bought so we can have some free space in the garage and a few extra dollars in the pocket!

Ah, the picky eater stage... I remember it well. In fact, Seth is still in that phase. It sure is annoying.

Hope your foot is feeling better. And I really like that shade of nail polish :)

Sooooo sweet!

My son is in the same stage (and I think almost the exact same age as Everly - he was born on 6/16 @ 38 weeks.)

Here's some other finger food he'll feed himself: chunks of avocado, scrambled eggs, cut-up fresh mozarella (it's very soft), other soft cheeses like brie, goat cheese, any kind of meat that's soft enough for him to chew, any kind of fish, shellfish (he will finger feed himself tons of baby clams!)

Hope something in there is helpful.
