To my baby girl at 20 weeks

Dear Sweet Everly,
You are now 20 weeks old/ 5 months today. Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday I was holding you for the first time.
When we first brought you home from The Farm it felt like time was going so slow as we learned your needs and got used to being parents. After we got through those first four weeks of your life time started to fly by. Now it seems like you’ve always been part of our daily routine and I can’t imagine life without you.
You’ve still got your beautiful red hair and blue eyes and it seems a small red freckle has developed below your lip on the right. I have a beauty mark in the same spot, mine isn’t a freckle though- its a mole. You’ve also got what what appears to be some freckles on your right shin too.
You started holding your head up and rolling over so early, you are such a strong girl. Even when you were inside me you were strong and moving like crazy. Now you are grabbing things, chewing on everything you can, giggling, making tons of noise and you are so animated and happy.
I wonder if you’ll be left handed sometimes. You always reach for things with your left hand, your left hand seems to work better for you than your right hand. I can’t wait to see if this is the case when you get older.
You love your bath time routine just before bed. I think it is because you get to lay next to our mirrored closet doors and check yourself out while I fill the bath tub and prepare for bath time. You are adorable and you know it. I try to take a photo of you every day so we can look back on them someday and marvel at how little you were and how fast you grew up.
Speaking of growing up, It was just this week in the bath where you discovered your toes. You grabbed them with your left hand and squeezed them while staring in amazement.
Yesterday you full out pooped in tub too. Your face was priceless, you looked at me like you knew it was coming and couldn’t hold back then little yellow poop pieces filled the tub and I scooped you out of the dirty water.
You are teething and have been since three months. The teething pain doesn’t make you particularly happy and you still aren’t taking those silly teething rings. Speaking of refusing things…
You don’t take a bottle or pacifier often either. We thought that Daddy would be able to hang out with you on weekends while I went off to teach colorguard. The few times I’ve left you you just refused to take my pumped milk from a bottle. Once you went almost 12 hours refusing to eat from the bottle, then I came home and you fed big time and passed out.
You’ve been to the state fair, we’ve done all sorts of sight seeing with you, you enjoy coming with me to marching band/ colorguard practice and you love the outdoors. You love loud stuff too, like the vacuum and our loud bumpy car.
I’ll always remember how calm and wide eyed you were once you were born and how you shot poop all over me the first week you were home. It was perfect and so funny that you did it while I was recording a video too. We’ll totally show that video to your boyfriend or prom date to embarrass you later in life!
We love you so much and can’t wait to see what the next 20 weeks (and beyond) have in store for you. Happy 20 week birthday sweet girl!
