Little Miss is down for the night and I’ve got a few free moments to bust out a blog post. Lots is going on ’round here, Everly is just growing like a weed. It seems she has a new “first” every darn day and we are kind of having a hard time keeping up. Lets see if I can cram all the updates in to this post real quick like:

  • After reading all your comments from my last post and after discovering a playmat and comforter in E’s room covered in cat piss we promptly banished one cat to the garage (because he was a dumb ass and ran out there) and one outdoors (because he is always trying to escape the house. By early afternoon the cat we put outside managed to dart back indoors under my feet. The cat in the garage was crying and yowling up a storm, making me feel like the worst pet owner in the world. I was spineless and let them both back inside to a once-again-modified double cat box set up. We put one box in our office downstairs, the other one is upstairs in our bathroom. Probably wont stop the inappropriate pissing but we’ll see.
  • Everly pulled up to standing this morning in her crib. N discovered this when he went to get her up. She was stuck standing and was super worked up about it. My little girl is going to be walking in no time. *tear* She’s already pulling up to standing on the couch, on us, on the table and on the entertainment center. She hasn’t started “cruising” just yet though.
  • Everly also said “mama” to me while she was pulling my nursing tank down and reaching in for boobie. Hope she doesn’t try that in public any time soon. Must start teaching her to sign or say a word that is code for boobie. Mama was her 3rd word, behind dada & nana.
  • Last month during my yearly exam my doctor recommended I start using progesterone cream because of my incredibly painful period symptoms and a few other things. I was surprised at the casual recommendation, I’d always thought hormone therapy was a tricky business and that it’s best to not mess with it. I asked her about the potential risks of permanent disruption, about the safety of it while nursing and about whether or not I’d experience the same side effects of hormonal birth control. She assured me the cream was all natural and not risky unlike oral hormone therapy. I am on the fence about this but went out and got a jar of Bio-Identical progesterone cream. Anyone else have experience with this?
  • The worst mother of the year award is in the bag! Everly took her first spill off the changing area, head first on to the tile floor in the bathroom. Not sure who was the most upset from the ordeal, pretty sure it was me. Before you go calling CPS let me inform you that I was right there with her when it happen, I DID NOT leave her unattended. I was trying to get her diaper around her bum while she was sitting upright on the changing area. She rolls and fights when you lay her down. Anyway, she dove right under my arm and only fell about a foot but still. I was all proud I hadn’t dropped her on her head as an infant and all… Now the record is blemished. Luckily she fine and made it out without a bump or bruise. Unlike the time she face-planted in to the Wii balance board trying to pull up on the entertainment center.
  • We tested out an organic/ low sugar banana cake recipe yesterday (from here). We are trying to find a good recipe for E’s first birthday that is good for her, not going to send her in to a sugar-induced coma and that is fun to smash and be messy with. E and I tried it out in the afternoon, I’ll admit it tasted like handful of dry flour, not a good recipe in my opinion. E didn’t mind it, she actually enjoyed the new texture experience and ate several hunks of it. N tasted it later that evening… His put it in his mouth, chewed for a second then ran over to the trash to spit it out. Tasted “like ass” as he put it so we are still on the hunt for recipes. Good thing we have about 2 months to find it.

I plan to post a photo essay of the garden next because we almost have stuff to harvest and I am damn proud of all the work N has done making it all amazing. It’s very cool! Gotta run now, time for our midnight dinner time and so recorded shows. Mmm, frito-taco salad!

I have an easy solution for calming down your periods! I have endometriosis...I was diagnosed when I was about 13, had my first surgery when I was 14 and did lupron shots for a year and provera for a year.

My periods were long, hard and painful.

I switched to cloth pads and my periods last 3-4 days max and my cramping is hardly anything. SERIOUSLY....google about other peoples results with switching to cloth! Not to mention it feels so much nicer than having those nasty disposables on!

P.S. Cats are evil.....
.-= Not So Average Mama´s last blog ..Wordless Wednesday, Photography is Dangerous =-.

I just switched this last week and did have a different experience. I am curious about how it helps with pain now.

I was reading my blogs in my google reader today and remembered you and your search for a low sugar birthday cake when I read this post today:

Another blog that I read that you may find low sugar ideas is:

Good luck in your search!

Tracey, those are great resources! Reading through them right now. Thanks for thinking of my search and for pointing me in the right direction. My readers rock!

This has to be Dr. Butsch, right? I know several of her female patients and she curiously perscribes progesterone for all of them, even though the health issue at hand is completely different for all of them. I'm not saying it's a bad thing...she perscribed it for me too! I took it when I was pregnant and had hyeremsis gravidarum a.k.a. excessive puking to point of danger. I tried every remedy known to man for 5 months and nothing worked except the magical progesterone. I stopped taking it toward the end of the pregnancy because I finally had enugh progesterone and the pills were making me a little nauseous (ironic, huh?). I was advised to take them right after delivering the placenta since that's when progesterone takes a HUGE dip. BUT! All the research I'd done told me that, that sudden and drastic dip in progesterone is what signals your milk to come in.

Now that the baby is here and I haven't slept properly for 6 months, I am battling some serious adrenal fatigue. Dr.'s solution? Progesterone again! I was leary and asked about it ruining my milk supply. I have to say she seemed a little too casual about it. She says it won't hurt my milk supply...but I'm worried it will and so I'm not taking it. She consulted the pharmacy she works with (the one that makes the bioidentical hormones) and simply said, "They said it's fine." I'm still skeptical. Instead, I've started a regimine of Sodium Ascorbate powder, sublingual vitamin B complex and co Q 10. It's working well! I still have some progesterone from the pregnancy and have considered trying it...

I'm curious to see how it turns out for you (and your milk) if you do try it. Maybe it would be just fine to take it!

Really N... What does ass taste like?

Yay for E falling on her head! Mine both did several times, and once with a very new born Aidan I wacked his head into the fridge door grabbing for something and trying to nurse. Ouch, honestly though, I think it hurts us more than them sometimes?

I used progesterone cream when we were trying to get pregnant. I'm not too sure how much it worked. But it might work for you. I sued it to normalize my periods, not for any pain or anything.
