The score- Cats: 1986358 – People: 1 (possibly)

The mess had been made and you could smell the stench from the other room. Thankfully there is a door separating us from the horror on the other side. It’s not like we don’t care, it’s just nearly impossible to contain the constant mayhem.

After returning home, a few free moments arose and we knew what had to be done. It’s wasn’t going to be pretty but it was time to face the music and maybe even get a leg up on the situation.

Armed with my economy size jug of vinegar, a sponge, old tooth brush and a bucket of hot water I enter the room to survey the damage. I notice a lone log of poop hanging over the edge of the litter box. Cat piss is pooled on the baseboard, thankfully the “potty pad” that was strategically placed has taken the brunt of the damage, this time.

The litter boxes aren’t particularly dirty but we still have someone who insists on hanging over the edge of the uncovered box to take care of business. And once one violates the clean floor setup the rest follow suite, a disgusting reality.

For weeks I’ve been fuming about the cat pee on the floor and baseboard. Once a week I go in on hands and knees scrubbing, wiping and even meticulously scraping out crevices with an old toothbrush. The smell of cat pee makes me totally insane.

Cleaning the box often makes no difference. I’ve tried changing the types of litter, scooping the box more regularly, repositioning the boxes, moving boxes, laying potty pads. Last week I even taped a potty pad to the wall and floor to prevent cat pee from possibly soaking in to the wall or under the baseboard.

This week I’ve taken drastic measures. I grabbed an old shower curtain and lined the room with it, completely taping it to walls. Now the cats are resigned to potting in a plastic lined room. I think my floor and walls are finally safe, possibly.

Take that dirty gatos!

I LOVE THE FACE!

I'm not a cat person, but even if I was I would be mad. Did you google it? They must do it for a reason. When I was pregnant I set up Emily's room and my dog went in there everytime I left the door opened and walked around loudly crying and pood on the floor. It was so weird.

Seriously.....best picture of E ever!! That look on her face is priceless :)

My cat uses the litterbox, but he always overshoots it and gets it on the floor. However, the dogs take care of the cat poop issue. And it just grosses me out.

shower curtain is GREAT idea! I used to put a large cardboard box over mine when I had that many cats. I cut holes in it - high - so that the dog would stay out of it.

Ooo, never thought of a cardboard box. That is a very good idea too.

I WANT HER!!!

Ugh, I feel you on the cat pee... Every time Monkey poops I go in right away and scoop it. I hate the smell of cat poo. I truly want to train Monk to use the tolite... Maybe you should teach yours too!

That might be the next thing I resort to, except you can't take care of pee till it clumps in the litter box.
