The red dripped from her chin and she smiled with satisfaction…

Dude, our baby girl isn’t really a baby anymore! Her first birthday is just over a month away at this point and I can’t believe a year has passed. We decided we might as well give the first birthday party thing a try despite the fact that all of our family and long-time friends are on the other side of the USA.

We are inviting everyone we feel close to and we’ll just see how it all turns out. At the very least we’ll have each other and a wonderful reason to celebrate so it’s all good.

We got the invitations all made up and have a “cake” plan ready to go. I’ll totally be sharing messy birthday cake photos with you after the party!

Here is what the invitation looks like: Smudged out the private info to stay safe from crazies.

Speaking of messy photos, we went and did some strawberry picking at a local farm over the weekend. We got about 10lbs of strawberry for fruit leather and jam/ preserve making.

Everly is a fruit lover! Currently she enjoys banana and strawberry the best. This is another reason why we didn’t mind stocking up on 10lbs of strawberry.

Initially we planned to wear her while picking berries. We didn’t want her tromping through the berry patch and squishing everything. She only lasted in the pack for a short time before protesting it so we held her and picked. Eventually we set her down on the straw path because one handed strawberry picking is super hard.

Once she figured out her favorite snack was growing from the plants it was all over. I have no clue how many berries she managed to scarf down, it was too many but it also was to damn cute to stop.

Yes, we did have to run home to wash her up and change her clothes by the end of it. We also told the cashier to charge us extra since E did much sampling. Ha. She said that wasn’t necessary.

We had fun and made some good memories picking berries. Making memories is really all we are doing these days. I don’t want to miss a single moment or opportunity to live it up with my family, especially since having a family of my own is all I’ve ever wanted.

I love memories. Especially the ones that just randomly happen...those are the best. I hope the birthday party turns out great. But, like you said, you have N and E, so life is perfect!
