The poo flu (another graphic mommyhood post)

The last few days have been not-so-fun in our house. It all started with the Mac & Cheese vomit madness last Wednesday. E had a low-grade fever Thursday but was making a comeback. By Friday I was feeling woozy and poor little E was having the runs.

We are talking like a river of poop that oozes out the leg of your diaper, on to your calf, foot, the tile floor and also part of the carpet. Also, poo dripped everywhere as I carried her to the bathroom for emergency bath time. Then she had another poosplosion towards dinner time.

I am happy to report I had no poosplosions and also didn’t vomit, just had the low-grade fever and the crappy tummy feeling. This weekend N has joined in our poo flu fun and is now experiencing the same things we just went through. It’s also been a severe weather weekend of storms and tornado warnings. No fun is being had in our house these last few days.

I coined it the “poo flu” because I am convinced we picked it up in the bathroom at the Olive Garden when we we eating on Sunday and E needed a diaper change. This was one of the few times we actually opted to use a bathroom changing table. Normally we just change her in the car or on a blanket somewhere.

This time laying her across my lap for a diaper change wasn’t a good idea, since we were at a restaurant and all. N offered to take her out to the car to change her but the bathroom was right there, why not use it…

Normally I’ll lay a blanket over the changing table to keep the germs off her hands and parts. This one time I didn’t. I am thinking she caught the poo flu from touching the grubby changing table cause I washed my hands.

By the way, how in the hell do you wash a baby’s hands in a public restroom?

I never ever used public restrooms to change my kids!!! I know people must have thought I was crazy but Id way rather that then change my kids in those filthy public bathrooms. I always had the hand sanatizer in my diaper bag too but with the little ones I was worried they would put their hands in their mouths with the sanatizer on it (not good) so I would do the sanatizer then wipe their hands with a wipey right away too. Keep in mind I am NOT a germaphobe but had to be careful because of their low platelets.

Hope you are all feeling better!

I keep hand sanitizer in the diaper bag and use it on Aubries hands when ever I change her. If I cant get to it I just use a clean wipe and use that instead. sorry you have all been feeling down. Randy is sick with something which sucks cuz we are on our honeymoon and stuck in the room in a not so fun way =(
