Stopping to smell the flowers…

Thoughts of E’s first birthday are swirling in my head. Did you know she’s almost 11 months old now? In preparation we are still trying out birthday cake recipes. Unfortunately, it turns out someone is NOT enjoying the texture of cake so I am visiting other options now.

We are also toying with the idea of throwing a birthday party, or not. Since we don’t have family close we didn’t really think a party was necessary. Just planned to have a little celebration with the three of us. Now we are having second thoughts but are reluctant, our parties never turn out well. Remember the baby shower? LOL.

Did I mention Everly is pulling up, standing and cruising these days? She is incredibly active now and goes from crawling to toddling along the table in a matter of seconds. She doesn’t appreciate my use and lack of sharing with the laptop, this is why I’ve been slacking in the “internets” these days. She will totally come right over, stand up and wrench the computer away from me trying to do what mommy does.

She’s also getting very good at communicating stuff like banana, juice, milk, hi, bye, bath, mama, dada, sleep and so on. Kind of blows my mind how much she knows without being actively taught. I mean I don’t sit and coach her to recognize or say things but she picks up on it all. So amazing.

Oh, remember how I just blogged about switching to cloth pads? That was a week ago, technically it’s been 10 days since my period… Anyway, guess who has her period again all thanks to the progesterone cream? Sucks and sort of worries me. Doc said I should probably stop using it now.

Should have trusted my initial instinct on the progesterone cream. First it made me feel all the symptoms of pregnancy 18 days ago and now my cycle is super jacked up. Hopefully I’ll be back on track soon because this really sucks.

Amazingly, this week has been one where I’ve felt like a competent parent. Been able to mange E’s crankiness, my own health issues and the house with a moderate level of success. This leaves me feeling like an okay parent this week, which is nice.

It all changes week by week but having a somewhat successful feeling is nice as opposed to always feeling like you are two steps behind.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and a relaxing Mother’s Day. Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers, you deserve it!
