Someone just turned 8 months old… Can’t believe it.

Bath time just got a whole lot more difficult it seems. Little Miss Everly now pulls up from reclining in the bath. We are talking pulls up to sitting forward and then from sitting to standing. Yowers!

Before she was just laying back in the tub like this:

Now I’ve gotta watch out for her lunging forward from her sitting position. She’s almost cracked her head on the front of the tub, on the faucet and she’s even bashing her chest on stuff too. She’s getting all eager to stand and check out new things but she doesn’t have the necessary balance to keep her safe yet.

Oh, she has two front teeth peaking out from under a layer of gums. It seems she’s getting her top too teeth, she’s about to have four teeth now.

We just realized she’s 8 months old and that in 4 short months she’ll have her first birthday. *tear* It seems like she should be a helpless baby for much longer…

I mean she’s already set on feeding herself foods, she’s rolling all around, wiggle worming her way side to side and now she’s getting to sitting or standing on her own. It’s like she’s not a baby anymore. Not gonna lie, that really throws me.

I know it’s kind of lame-o to keep talking about how fast she’s growing because everyone knows kids grow fast… It’s just totally different and almost indescribable how it feels happening before your eyes.

We hooked all our cords into a surge protector and put it behind our entertainment center, which is big. The cords to the lamps there's not much you can do except either unplug them or just really watch her around them.We just watch Riley around our lamps and he has never tried to mess with them. He loves getting into all our cabinets though and playing with the plastic containers and lids, lol.
One suggestion , in that 2nd pic I see a glass in-table. We have glass in- tables too and they make these bumper-pad like things that go all around the edges of a coffe table, table or in tables. That way when she starts walking, if she was to hit it, it won't hurt her. She's going to be very wabbly when she starts walking and falling down alot.
As for gates, it really depends on the money you want to spend on them. They make these plastic gates that work great and are only about 15$ a piece. They make the gates that open so you can walk through them that are made for stairs but they are more expensive. Right now we are using the plastic ones and just stepping over them at the bottom of the stairs.

I saw some really cute foam covers for bathtub plumbing -- one where the water looked like it was coming out an elephant's trunk.

There were no home computers when my children were babies and certainly no Wii Fit! We'd just graduated from 8-track to cassette and thought we were darned lucky to pick up all three major networks with our roof antenna.

The only advice that survives the decades is never underestimate the child's ability... physically or mentally to get into trouble :-)

Ya they grow soo fast and you don't really realize how fast until you have a kid of your own. Then it's like " holy s**t " !!! She looks like she's ready to sit in the bath without the little baby tub. Now that she's starting to move around alot more, I would suggest taking this time to start baby proofing if you already haven't because once she starts walking, thats it, lol. Walmart has cheap, good, plastic, plugs for the outlets in your house and alot of other babyproofing stuff. She's going to try to get into cuboards and drawers. A great investment for the stairs is a baby gate. we have them here because Riley tries to get up the stairs. I have shown him how to get down but he still has to be supervised.

We've got the latches for the two cabinets that contain cleaning stuff and other toxic yuck. Got all the 1st floor plugs covered too and the cords to our blinds and curtains. Still need to tackle the baby gate thing for our stairs and to keep her out of the office. Any suggestions for securing cords and cables near entertainment centers and such? I worry about the lamp cables and all the cords around our TV and Wii Fit.

NOOOOOO!!!! Say it isnt so. . . Time to let her go free in the tub! she is totally ready!

Everyone I knew with kids warned me how fast Logan would grow, but those first few months of his life is a blur now I think its the lack of sleep that did it. I still can't believe that Logan is two and a half, I look at his baby pictures and just wonder where did all that time go? Just enjoy every precious moment that's what I do!
Oh btw I started reading this book called diaper free before 3 by Jill M. Lekovic, I checked it out of our local library and I would suggest reading it, its really interesting the history of toliet training and talks about starting your kids the earlier the better and the basically conspiracy of the diaper companies (huggies/pampers) and how they are suggesting delaying longer and how much money they are making due to this. I know you use cloth which is great! But its super interesting it also touches on how other cultures children are toliet trained so much earlier than in the US. Makes me wish I would have started early but now I have more information for the next one which hopefully will happen soon. Anyways hope all is well! I love reading your blog.

We've already given up on the little plastic bathtubs for G and moved on to letting him sit up in the tub on his own, lol. E is beautiful, I can't believe how fast our babies first years are going by!
