Screaming Drugstore Deals: Nov 1- 7th 2009

One of the things I spend time doing each week is strategizing our grocery shopping trips.
While we were saving up to pay for our homebirth costs we did a number of things to save on our grocery budget. One of them was couponing.
I am kind of addicted to couponing now. The thrill of saving so much is pretty cool.
Take this grocery receipt for example. We went to our local super Walmart and filled our cart with $60.17 of stuff.

It was mainly stuff that was on special and that we had coupons for… Some good stuff but not stuff we necessarily needed at the time.
I had $27.65 worth of coupons to use and walked out the door only spending $32.52 on almost 40 items. That is an average of $.81 per item and an overall savings of 45.95%
Now we have extra deodorant and toilet paper, flea collars and other things that we’ll keep tucked away until we need it… This is called a stockpile in the coupon world.
Stockpiling stuff isn’t done for the sake of hording things ore preparing for disaster, it’s done because often times you can get nonperishable goods for just a few cents when they are on special.
Some things like the Klondike Choco Tacos I got were even free! If you watch your store ads and match up those store specials with coupons you’ll save the most.
Once example of a great deal I got is the Suave deodorant. Walmart had in rolled back to just $.97 each… I had a coupon for $.75 off one which made my final purchase price only $.22 Pretty good right?
Here are the weekly deals I am planning on taking advantage of, you can to since many of the coupons needed are available for print online.

i love the extra bucks at CVS and you can also get Register Rewards at Walgreens. Perry and I bought some stuff at Walgreen’s the other day. I went first and earned $12 in Register Rewards from the stuff I had just purchased, plus I got a few bucks off from some coupons I used. I turned right around and gave Perry my Register Rewards and he only paid $3 for his stuff.
i also wanted to thank you for signing me up for that magazine. I just got it the other day. Lots of good tidbits plus great coupons!

I never have luck with coupons. I even did a post saying they were the devil. LOL! But I’m glad you are able to get these kinds of savings – that’s great! Maybe sometime if I concentrate enough I will be able to do it.
