Poetic inspiration and fussing…

Fussy little Li-li,

grunts all day

Only time she’s happy s-when she’s packing food away.

Not sure what kind of poem this is. I am pretty sure it’s not a limerick or a haiku but it just came to me in the whirlwind that has been today…

I am not sure if E is growing out of one of her daily naps or what but she’s been a major fussy-pants these last few days. Probably a combination of a growth spurt, teething and possibly her not needing as many naps in a day. Plus things are super stressful and hectic for us these days. It could be part of E’s problem too.

Either way she’s basically grunting, whining or crying all day unless she’s nursing, eating solids or on the rare occasion that she’s asleep. By the way, she’s finally asleep now! After 5 different tries at laying her down and like 2 1/2 hours later… Now I am having some cheese & peanut butter crackers for lunch, following my cinnamon toast for breakfast.

Eating like a champion today thanks to zero time for myself and now that I’ve got some free time all I can focus on is figuring out what kind of poem I came up with. Any idea?

As for what kind
Of poem you had written,
I did not know,
My curiousity bitten
Then Donna B
Made it clear
And it sounded more stanza couplet
To my ear....
It sounded good before I knew
It sounded good after
And no matter what kind it is
it brought to my lips some laughter

Best off the cuff guess is it's actually a 2 stanza couplet... if written like this:

Fussy little Li-li,
grunts all day.

Only time she’s happy
s'when she’s packing food away.

The second line, when spoken rhythmically gets two beats to the the syllable, and the extra syllable in the last line gives it a feeling of finality.

Pretty cute! And all I know for sure is that it's not iambic pentameter!

See I knew someone could satisfy my curiosity! Yay Donna!

Sorry Mama :( wish I could be there to give you a little brake. Good job on the eating thought! Thats a big step for you!

I have no idea what kind of poem it its, but its cute :) Hopefully she grows out of this fussy stage quickly! And babies are notorious for picking up on other people's stress....so hopefully things calm down for the whole house soon :)
