Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans…

All the trees are naked and it is very close to freezing at night now. Thanksgiving is just right around the corner and we aren’t really sure where the year has gone.

Life is blowing by so fast and it just feels like we are standing here in a blur while it all swirls around us like fall leaves and happens before our eyes.

Everly is growing like a weed, we are getting older, life is changing and we are progressing. We don’t really feel our age and sometimes it’s crazy to think of how much time has passed and all that’s happen. Really makes you focus on what’s important in life!

Yesterday I had a winterguard meeting with the kids and parents I’llĀ  now be working with. It’s a different group of kids from the ones I was working with for marching season…

It was sad and hard to let the marching season group of kids go but I had to take a long hard look at how the situation was impacting me and my well being. Lets just say my teaching style didn’t mesh well with another staffer and since he’s in charge so to speak I just graciously moved aside when it was obvious compromise and cooperation wasn’t possible.

I miss the kids like crazy but I’ve gotta do what’s best for me and the family now. Moving on to a more positive situation was the best thing I could do.

The new group of kids is super promising and I am starting to move beyond the grief of the loss and beginning to get pumped for the possibilities of the future. Change and transition is always hard but it’s necessary. Especially in bad situations.

Oh, we are all set for turkey day too. N scored us a free range, organic turkey from a local farmer. Now he’s working on Thanksgiving and we decided that we didn’t want to have our Thanksgiving feast at like midnight when he gets off so we are gonna celebrate on Friday instead of Thursday.

It will be our first thanksgiving as a family AND in our own home. We are looking forward to it and just trying to enjoy the moments.

This change sounds like it is a good one for you and your family. And all we can do at times, is grab and enjoy those moments! I can't believe that my oldest is 35!! and my "baby" will be 14 next month! But I still vividly remember those moments - even the 35 yo's moments! I wish that I had all my kids during the digital time.... not as many recorded moments with the oldest as I would like.

Change is usually never easy. But it sounds like its going to be a change for the good. And that's what counts :)

As far as us aging, I still have a hard time believing that I have a daughter in high school. Time really does fly, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Each new stage of my kid's lives, and mine and Travis's just brings something new and exciting.

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! ::hugs::
