It’s homegrown goodness…

We just brought in a huge bunch of collard greens, more sugar snap peas, one baseball sized radish and two normal sized ones, a large bunch of parsley and a few sprigs of rosemary.
I plan to cook up the greens and radish tonight with dinner, the snap peas keep in the fridge well and will be stir fried eventually. The herbs are drying in the food dehydrator now and will go in the spice cabinet when they are done.
The garden is producing very well these days. Other than the beetles or grasshoppers skeletizing my roses and the occasional caterpillars munching the Brussels sprouts/ broccoli leaves we are pest free.
The raspberry bush we rescued last year (from behind the garage of the rental house) is going great guns. It’s practically growing around the side of our house now and has so many blossoms and developing berries setting. We should have a bunch of raspberries to enjoy soon.
It doesn’t seem like our blueberries or grapes will produce this season. Well one grape bush might, It is several years old at this point but this is only it’s first year in solid ground. We bought it back in Flagstaff, AZ and it’s been transplanted several times, living in a pot and it even moved with us in our motor home when we made the trip out here.
I know I say this each year but I’ll say it again, it is amazing to be able to go out back to harvest the food you want to use for dinner. It is fresher, not laden with pesticides or preservatives and it was grown by us. Makes consuming it that much more rewarding if you know what I mean.
Here is a look at our 2010 garden photos:
Also, I forgot to share with you that I was chosen as an Infantino Mom Ambassador thanks to momcenteral.com. This means I’ll be checking out various differnt products with Miss Everly. I was especially eager to learn more about various baby gear since back when I was pregnant I was so clueless. When I actually started shopping around it was overwhelming how many different features and conveniences there are to choose from.
One weekend N and I actually took Every in to a store just to have her “test drive” a few bouncer seats before we choose one. Reading all the product info and seeing all the company literature is great but when it all comes down to it the most important thing is how a product will work for and fit in to homes of real parents.
So, over the course of several months I’ll be sharing my opinions (you’ll know I have an abundance of those), observations and Everly’s experiences with these products. I figure she’ll have quite the fun time playing with all of them and I’ll surely learn a thing or two and hope to pass that info on to you (or anyone out there searching for info on these).
From what I’ve been told I’ll be receiving a Jumbo Wheel Play Space, a Twist and Fold Gym and a Fold & Go Bouncer. Can’t wait for them to arrive! Stay tuned to read more about these.
“I am a member of the Mom Central community and I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central, sponsored by Infantino, and received various products to help facilitate my review.”
I know what you mean about harvesting your own veggies and fruits. Such a wonderful feeling, gets you out in nature, AND yummy (and healthy) too! Love your macro flower shots. I love taking those kinds of shots too (but I'm not gonna even pretend that I'm a photographer or know what I'm doing). LOL. Anyway, your greens sound very good and I hope you enjoyed them with your dinner. :)
