Hotel comforters, never use them folks!

I have quite the hospitality background, I worked at various hotels/ resorts in different capacities for many years. I have a slew of horror stories as a result. I’ve been flashed penis through a window, broken up hot tub skinny dipping, called the police on people, fetched old underwear from under the bed, removed a used condom from clean sheets and much, much more.

I could write a very disturbing, gruesome book one day! One of the things I learned is hotel comforters/ throws are never to be used. You know those ugly bed covers you find in hotels, the ones that seem to be there for decoration only?

Well I’ve always peeled those right back and thrown them to the floor. I know what happens to those and don’t want any part of that…

Trust me you do not want to use those things guys, just don’t do it!

Can you imagine how many people have had a quickie right there on the top of the comforter? Both hotel guests and hotel employees do this you know. I had a property manager who was caught doing this with another hotel employee once. She was the property owners (married) daughter but that is a story for another day.

Then there are all the other bodily fluids those things soak up. Urine, drool, vomit etc… That is not even counting the other various liquids that might have come in contact with it like juice or vodka.

Need a visual? Here is a photo from the hotel we just stayed at. When I pulled the comforter back… low and behold, some questionable spots: (this is a real photo I took with my camera!)

You’d think they washed those along with all the other bedding right? Well you are pretty mistaken.

N even got to witness and sort of document the housekeeping staff NOT changing the comforter/ bed cover thingy. After years of me telling him how nasty they were he finally believes me now. It’s only taken like seven years.

While he was loading up our car at checkout he watched the housekeeping staff pull the comforter off the bed and on to the floor in the room next to ours. They changed the sheets and then pulled the comforter right back up on to the bed, made it up all nice and moved on to the next room.

What is even better is they threw this comforter on the floor before they vacuumed the room. Not only was the thing used and now being reused, it was also laying on the dirty floor collecting more yuck until it was put back on the bed.

So, whatever happen on it is still there for the next guest to enjoy! Not washing those is a common way to save on operating costs. If they don’t look obviously dirty chances are housekeeping staff will skip on changing and washing them.

Next time you are around during housekeeping time watch to see if the housekeeping staff carries in a new comforter for the bed when they are turning the room around. Don’t say I didn’t tell you so.

that is gross and to think I have not really thought about all that while staying in a hotel. You have opened my eyes to the nasty truth, lol.
And I do recall the incident with the property owners married daughter. I couldn't believe that when we all heard, and trust me, everyone was talking about it. lol

All I can say is EEEEEEEEwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Ew. I've always known this, but to really hear it from a past hotel worker....ugh. I'm not sure if I should say thanks for sharing :)

I already knew this in the crevices of my mind...but gross, gross, gross!!!!! (and I had already showered this morning...but maybe need to do it again)

*BARF* I take my own pillows, sheet and covers for the beds. My Gramma told me to do that. I have also started taking my own towels too.

Hotels are so dirty...
