Extended vacations and toddler accomplishments

Everly plays at the park It’s been a whirlwind of a time at home this last month. Everly is 15 months old, N still on extended vacation and we’ve been steadily busy as usual. N is at another job interview as I write this.

Everly finally has her 7th tooth through the gums and it is no longer causing her world ending pain. The last week has been intense with her since she’s carrying on like she’s about to die. The thing about her is she’s not a cuddly when feeling bad baby. She likes to keep trying to go 100 miles a minute even when she’s feeling poorly and she just yells, whines and is extremely irritable while never slowing down.

Now that her tooth is in she’s been sleeping much better again and is breaking fewer ear drums around the house. Did I tell you her potty accomplishments? She regularly asks to “pssssss” now and also recognizes bathrooms and toilets as places to “psssss”. We are still working on her #2′s. She would rather go hide in her room when she’s about to poop. We are still working to make her more comfortable going to the bathroom like a big girl. She’s also having some struggle relaxing and going when she feels like she needs to.

At 15 months old asking to pee in the toilet and regularly succeeding at it is great by our standards. I know there are all these recommendations about when and how to toilet train kids… I just really think that the most important indicators and factors to consider are those of the individual child’s needs and experiences.

Everly is also majorly expressing herself with signals, gestures and many, many words. She’s still a book worm too, she gets that from her daddy. She climbing, running, still enjoying helping out in the garden. She loves to help with dishes. She’s got an obsession with all green vegetables in the garden. Her favorite thing is picking the smallest green tomatoes and carrying them around in her hands and mouth.

N and I are still hanging in there. We are continuing to network and to reach out to those around us. Some potential opportunities have been ruled out, we’ve learned more about unemployment and public assistance and we’ve also expanded our ideals and are open to several potential, possibly more fulfilling possibilities.

I don’t want to jinx the possibilities so I wont share more now, just keep the positives thoughts flowing our way.
