Dear Santa, JAVA or energy please!

You know the day is going to be a struggle when your husband whispers to you “the coffee maker is broken” on his way out the door, just two days before Christmas.
After a night of frequent wakings for boobie time this mom is not chipper in the morning. Especially when her toddler, who has been up 3 hours already, wakes her to confess “Mama, I ate something bad. Poop!”.
Without coffee I am in a mess of knocking baby’s head against the side of the pack n play, falling down the stairs with baby in arms and putting milk in the kitchen cabinet. It isn’t pretty folks.
So when our three year old Black & Decker coffeemaker bit the dust this morning it was hard. Luckily for me several things were working in my favor:
- Adalyn, while waking often, was actually just cooing and talking to wake me. This is a welcome change from the crying she and most babies do to alert parents of feeding time. Thank goodness for gentle, sweet wakings.
- Nathan was courteous and alert enough to think of how he could save my morning. He remembered we have a small french press that can be used to make coffee.
- He set up the french press, filled it with coffee, filled a cup with water and then left me a note about how to work the french press (complete with step by step instructions) so I could have an easy cup of coffee to start the day.
Everyone survived the morning our coffee maker died, luckily!
Now, to buy a new one or just adapt routine so we can only use the french press? Having one less electricity sucking appliance on the counter top would sure be nice. I bet the french press would save us many wasted cups of coffee too.
