Waking up to N and E having a good time rocks!

N gets up with Everly each morning and they have this routine that keeps her occupied so I get to sleep. It’s nice because I am still up like once or twice at night to breastfeed Everly, the extra morning snooze time is a life saver.

Anyway, this morning N and E used the potty in addition to all their other morning routine fun. Now he is a believer in EC too. Up until today I was the only one taking E to the potty for poop time. It’s been going very well and she obviously like going in the potty as opposed to her diaper and now N sees that.

Plus, he’s never had the opportunity to take her to the potty until today. Now he is a seasoned EC dad and from what he told me E was all smiles to be free of her diaper and able to poop in the potty.

I am totally a EC believer and am so glad we’ve been able to get her used to the potty for her #2 bathroom needs. I wish we had the time at home to be able to tackle EC with pee but for now, with my teaching schedule I am still okay with her peeing in a diaper. Eventually we’ll move to total diaper free baby. Maybe this summer when I am home with her and doing nothing else.

So now I’d love to hear your potty training or ECing stories or advice. What worked and what didn’t and what words of wisdom do you have for a first time mommy?

I've always wanted to try EC! My kids didn't really show any signs until they were in the middle of it though... Lol! I used to put my DD straight on the potty upon waking her in the mornings though so we had the first morning pee in the toilet. I started doing that with her when she was 2 weeks -ish? But soon after, her sleeping schedule started being really wacky and is still wacky so I wound up getting her on the potty in time upon waking about 1 or 2 times a month until she was 10 months and then couldn't catch her before she went after that. :( Did NOT have the energy to even care about trying EC with my DS (we had moved 1 week before he was born and I was having complications for about 2 months after his birth and then thereafter just trying to survive life with a newborn and 2 year old and unpacking boxes...) but I have a bun in the oven and hope to try again with this one. Although I'll be in the same situation with a newborn and 2 year old once again... plus a 4 year old this time. Yeah they're all almost exactly 2 years apart. Third times the EC charm I hope! ;)

When my kids were babies, I watched and watched for any signs and saw NONE. And I kept thinking "I'm with them 24 hours a day, if they were giving signs, wouldn't I see them???" Yeah, my kids would not have been good candidates. Later when Wynnie was 1 she started making faces, and we were able to do potty tricks then, but Mack never EVER showed any signs of anything.

Good on you for being able to spot it with Everly!!

OOooo! I'm anxious to see if anyone else has experiences to add. I am so impressed (and jealous) that you have Everly pooping in the potty! My little one gives no discernable cues when she's about to poop. It'd be tough to catch anyway because she only goes like once or twice a week...and it's usually quite the blow-out when she does. Sure would love to get those into the toilet!

Pessa,
We didn't notice any cues until we started her on some solid foods. Then her poop frequency picked up (she was a once a week breastfeeding kind of pooper) and the poops got harder and more obvious for her to pass. We are still breastfeeding on demand but her poop is sure solid like real people poop. Glad to have them in the toilet and not needing to be scraped off her cloth diapers. LOL.
