Coupon Clipping: It is hip to save!

I know so many young, non-grannyish gals who share my fellow coupon clipping and saving obsession. I know many of my readers (specifically those who spend $100+ on a pair of shoes *wink*, I still love ya girl!) think it’s nerdy to be a coupon clipper, mainly cause they don’t get it.

Seriously though, when you can get a load of stuff (that you already need) for way less than regular price it is an amazing feeling and it also totally helps out the budget (even if you aren’t living paycheck to paycheck). It’s not all that hard to do and the more serious you get about it the bigger your savings can be.

Today, despite my feeling under the weather (finally got my period after 55 days) I managed to drag my ass to the CVS near the house to snag some great deals before my coupons expired. Here is what I got:

Makes me pretty happy that I filled my cart with over $100 of stuff and my coupons saved me $32.69. I also had $13.00 in CVS extra bucks to use with my coupons which brought my total down to $66.62, then I earned $12.00 in more CVS extra bucks for my next trip and have $37.46 coming back to me in rebate checks from individual companies.

On some items I didn’t save anything because I didn’t have coupons or special offers for those but for others I made money (as you can see by the green numbers) so it all balances out nicely if you are smart about it. Essentially I got 25 products for $29.16. That averages out to about $1.16 spent on each product.

I saved us $83.15 on this shopping trip, that is money that can be spent elsewhere. Like on Everly. Yay!

What is even better is that this is only one store’s weekly deals, rebates and coupon matching. With the time and energy I can do that same thing at Walgreens, Walmart and so on. So, why aren’t you couponing yet?

I get a mambo sprouts mailing that has tons of them! Also, join afullcup.com so you can search the coupon database for info and even printable coupons for anything you might need.

Often times just staying up on the companies special offers or even writing to profess your love of a product and asking them for coupons goes a long way.

Do you know of any sources/websites where you can find coupons for organic stuff...like Muir Glen, Annie's, Stonyfield Farms, Full Circle, etc.? I am a huge fan of coupons...but I NEVER see coupons for the stuff I usually buy.

Get rain checks! I always do and honestly it is a better deal that way.

You'll get extra bucks via the rain check too and what is best is the rain checks don't expire so you can hang on to them to pair with good coupons at a later date. You won't loose out on the sale price and you'll get those extrabucks too!

I just had to go back today and got rain checks for the warm delights and brownie mix since they were cleaned out of all of them.

I am so impressed/proud for you Talina!~ I usually don't have much luck with CVS, (when I tried to get on it they are out of the product, etc.) and I am so exausted I just said to H* with it... but I do recall getting some hot grocery deals and love, love, love Hot Coupon worlds site...I have not been couponing much lately but I always love reading about someone else's hot deals!
