Christmas 2009 as parents.

I never thought I would be such a gingerbread cookie fiend! Last week we made up a ton of cookies to get in the holiday spirit and also so N would have cookies to take in to work for everyone.

We’d been trying different gingerbread cookie recipes each year, nothing was particularly impressive and I thought for sure gingerbread cookies just weren’t my thing.

Thanks to social networking I found a twitter follower who posted a good recipe on her blog called “The Best Gingerbread Cookie Recipe in the World“. So there was much baking and being cute in festive holiday outfits around here.

After Tater slept in Christmas morning we took turns sitting with her and helping her to open her gifts. She did participate in the unwrapping process and totally enjoys her gifts.

We did have to give her breaks from the unwrapping fun. Sort of an intermission from gifts, twice… She napped. I guess all the unwrapping and new toys were a touch overstimulating for her. By early afternoon we had managed to get all her stuff opened.

She got things like wooden toys, musical toys, diapers & clothes and dishes. We were so excited to show her everything and to watch her playing!

It was a quiet holiday for us. We didn’t have to lug ourselves around to other people’s celebrations, we got to stay home and to take things at our own pace. We snacked, had fun and enjoyed a late ham dinner before turning in for the night. It was great.

Celebrating the holidays as parents was different for us but we had a good time. The only down side was the darn cats who were practically swinging from the tree Christmas Eve and early Christmas morning. They kept us up all night- not Tater.

Hopefully you had a great holiday! We’ve been thinking of everyone and can you believe we still have stinking holiday cards that we need to send? Dang, we are slackers!

I was wondering if you would still call her Tater after she was born and I’m glad to see you still do. I think it is such a cute nickname for such an adorable little girl! :) I’m glad she enjoyed her holiday and I loved seeing the photos! I don’t love gingerbread but I certainly ate my share of junk food!!! Yikes! Hugs to you!
