All countdowns are nearing their end…

Well, the time has arrived. I am officially in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy now (28 weeks for those counting), can you tell?

Everly’s birthday is a few weeks away and then baby sister will be here before we know it.

I only have one remaining midwife visit before we head down to stay at The Farm to wait for labor to begin. We are taking June off from a prenatal visit since our May checkup trip was such an adventure.

I know, I didn’t share the May adventure yet. Here it is:

For starters, we had to make the drive there and back in just one day, so that is over seven hours of drive time. Not fun when you are a fat preggo, also not fun for an almost two year old.

The plan was to meet with the backup doctor there near Summertown, one backup doctor visit is typical protocol with my midwife out at The Farm so we scheduled this visit around the schedule of the backup doctor.

When we all arrived at the doctor’s office there was a note taped to the door about how they were having a emergency meeting and that the office was closed until 2pm. Our appointment was at 1pm so we set off for lunch to kill time, what pregnant lady doesn’t kill wait time with food?

At 2pm when we came back the receptionist didn’t have us scheduled for an appointment at all. We also learned the backup doctor had just announced, at the emergency meeting, that he was taking an unexpected leave of absence for a family illness. So he wouldn’t even be around for my due date anyway.

Alas, there was no backup doctor appointment to go to, once we had already driven 4 hours to the office and planned an entire day around the appointment. Instead we went back to The Farm for a visit with my midwife and learned baby sister is already head down and is likely the source of my pelvic pain these days.

We discussed taking the month of June off with regard to a prenatal visit and had planned to meet just one more time in July before I head down to stay there for the birth in August. Logistically this is all a nightmare because scheduling life around birth is never an easy thing to do, especially when you are letting it unfold naturally when the time is right.

Fingers are crossed that I am not in surprise labor earlier than August 13th because I wont be at The Farm until that day! Of course we will be talking with my midwife and we are toying with the idea of some hands on local care in the two weeks or so before we depart for The Farm, just in case.

Ah, the worries and the unknowns of birth are wonderful aren’t they? On the positive side, I’ll have webcam access regardless of where labor starts this time around *wink*. I am debating a live birth here on the blog for all to see. Right now nothing is decided and logistics are hairy but it is a fun idea.

How is your week going? I know lots of readers are planting and even harvesting some great garden goodies right now, what do you have going on- in the garden or elsewhere?

What a fabulous picture of you...except for you not having a head...lol! Glad to hear things are going well with the pregnancy I know its so hard to plan things around a birth I was convinced Chloe was going to be coming "any day now" and my mom was here waiting in CA with us for two weeks before she arrived...the night of the Oscars no less, haha. Good luck can't wait to here her name!
