A day in the life, my Thursday & Friday May 2010

1:25 am – In the middle of watching our Grey’s Anatomy recording Everly wakes and cries for milk. We pause our show and I go down to nurse her. Five minutes later she’s back asleep and we resume watching our show.

2amish – Finally turn in for bed.

4:45am – Everly wakes crying for milk again. Stumble down stairs, nurse her, stumble back up stairs, go back to bed.

10:30am – Wake to N bringing E upstairs. She’s whining “ne,ne,ne,ne” this means she wants to nurse. She had been whining to N downstairs for quite some time, he finally bright her up to rouse me. Nursed her and N put her down for a nap afterward. Take my BBT, record it then climb out of bed and get dressed for the day.

11:10am -  Everly cries and is done with napping it seems. Fetch her and plop down for some play time while I gulp coffee and try to wake up. Play some more, pull E away from dangerous things, talk to N, try to wake up more.

Noonish – Everly is climbing me, pulling down my shirt and whining “ne,ne,ne,ne” again. She’s particularly drooly today. More teeth coming in? Probably. Nurse her and lay her back down for nap part 2. She usually has a good morning nap and a longer afternoon nap each day.

12:30pm -  Head out to tour the garden with N and my same cup of coffee in my hand. Admire garden growth, harvest huge bowl of mustard greens, also harvest 2 strawberries, pick weeds from garden beds, plant a few Ranunculus and head in to eat something.

12:45pm – Eat eggs and toast then head up to shower and shave my amazon woman legs. What? I’ve been so tired each night that I bathe, just haven’t been able to muster the energy to shave at the end of the day.

1pm – Out of shower, dressing and E rouses. Grab E, bring her up stairs so I can finish dressing. Dress, play with E, talk to N, straighten bedroom. Sit down in bed, E wants to be on the bed too. Hoist her up, cuddle and she pulls my shirt down and starts nursing. N leaves for work.

1:30pm – Head back downstairs with E to tackle some chores. Give E her sippy of juice, decide I want to make Mac & Cheese. Start the cooking process. Hear strange gagging noise, look to see if E is okay, realize it’s the cat. Move cat to tile area for vomiting, head back to cooking. Cat goes back to carpeted area, hacks up huge hairball-just-consumed-food-and-string. Curse the cat, move him to the bathroom where I lock him in to finish vomiting, return to cooking. On the way I notice E has dribbled some grape juice on the white carpet somehow.

1:45pm – Searching high and low for carpet cleaning bucket and scrub brush. Text N to ask where the hell he left it. Find the cleaning goods and start vomit clean up. Still cooking mac and cheese.

1:50pm – Vomit and juice are cleaned up, sit down for mac and cheese with Everly, eat, feed her, manage to get parts of the kitchen cleaned up.

CRAP! This outlining the day thing is hard work and honestly sitting down at the end of the night to try narrating it stinks. Before I was a mom I could have finished a post like this but not now apparently, I quit! Besides I can’t even really remember past 2pm… Is that bad?
